Marble

Marble is a stone which is composed of calcite, dolomite and or serpentine. More generally used in construction. Specifically in the dimension stone trade, the term “marble” is used for any crystalline calcitic rock (and some non-calcitic rocks) and is very useful as building stone.

Almost half of the world’s marble and decorative stone production is dominated by 4 countries. Italy, with 20% share in global marble production is the world leader in Marble. China is second with 16%, India with 10% as #3rd with 10%, followed by Spain in fourth position with 6% of world production. The other Marble producing countries combined represent approx half of the total world marble production.
